Overview of Concept
Energy loss due to heat evolution in laptops and microelectronics is a major obstacle to the advancement of modern technologies. It not only wastes energy, but also can detract from the functionality of the device by inhibiting processing capabilities. Over the next several weeks, the group plans to analyze several different materials and develop a functional prototype which harnesses thermoelectric properties to not only increase battery life, but also absorb heat and decrease the internal temperature of the electronics. The internal structure of a sample laptop will then be analyzed in order to determine whether the cell should be incorporated internally or externally. The cell will then be fitted to the laptop and ultimately analyzed through a variety of simulations and tests.
